Laurelhurst

Residential

1920’s remodel

This tudor home near Laurelhurst was beautiful in it’s own right but needed a little fine tuning. An existing staircase that traveled through the middle of the house was the first thing to move. The staircase is now situated along the north side of the house, incorporates landings and a wrapping design and allows for more usable floor space at each level. The existing kitchen was expanded to the west and a bank of windows was placed appropriately to take advantage of the view. A comfortable layout was important to the homeowners who like to entertain so Fleetwood sliding doors were installed adjacent to the kitchen to provide a spacious opening to the deck. Maintaining historical integrity was achieved in the small details throughout, however in the new master bathroom the intention was a spa-like atmosphere. The neutral tones, walnut cabinetry and natural stone shower floor all contribute to a airy space, perfect for relaxing. New interior and exterior paint, among other finishes, transformed the house to make a great return on their investment.
