Mercer Island
Another recent project was the construction of a 6,500 square foot Mercer Island waterfront home designed by SkB Architects. After demolition of two, oddly positioned existing homes on the lot the homeowners wanted to maximize the views of Lake Washington and Mt. Rainer and create a space ideal for entertaining and everyday living. The design comprised of interior concrete walls and radiant heated floors along with exposed fir beams and soffits resulting in an invitingly modern, open floor plan. The kitchen and living spaces pour onto the exterior ipe decks through Loewen sliding doors, creating a seamless transition from interior to exterior space. Dyna’s metal shop fabricated the blackened steel fireplace surround and powder coated exterior chimney cap completing the contemporary design of the fireplace from top to bottom. Each of the three bedrooms upstairs maintains the sweeping views. The master suite features two walk in closets, a steam shower and sleeping quarters that are divided by a custom built, fir sliding door. The finished home exceeded the design expectations and is graciously tucked away on the shores of the lake, providing all the luxuries that the owners desired.
