Who We Are

Seattle-Based Custom Builder of High-Quality Distinctive Homes

Our projects are comfortable, functional, and above all else, well-made. Design and construction are about turning dreams into reality, and we know the journey can sometimes be an arduous one. Our approachable, seasoned staff brings decades of expertise to every project, ensuring an outcome that is just as enjoyable as the process.

Dyna is known for building relationships with clients and collaborators that are as long-lasting and treasured as the high-quality buildings we construct. Many of our employees and subcontractors have been working with us since our inception. To us, there is no higher compliment than the countless repeat clients and referrals that we have received over the last 25+ years.

As a premiere floating home builder in Seattle, we understand the value of crafting projects that weave into the historical fabric of their surroundings, while also standing out through modern design and state-of-the-art construction techniques. Our new builds and remodels traverse aesthetic boundaries and are not limited to a particular style; instead, we respect a home’s character and strive to make it the best it can be. Dyna is more than a construction company – our architectural and interior design services, along with our custom metal shop, allow us to design, engineer, and build exceptional spaces.

Our Story

1999

Founded in 1999, Dyna’s original mission continues today: to build exceptional projects with driven, talented people, and have fun doing it. Founder and President, Ren Chandler, remains involved in virtually every Dyna project and enjoys working directly with clients to help make their dreams a reality.

2005

In 2005, Dyna set up shop in our current space in Ballard, just steps from Shilshole Bay and the Ballard Bridge. At the same time, we expanded the business with an in-house custom metal shop located beneath our main office, and in 2009 built our first floating home on Portage Bay.

2013

In 2013, Dyna began offering architecture and interior design services to support the growing needs of our clients.

2016

The Dyna Docks were established in 2016 with 200 feet of commercial pier space and a large yard to meet the demand for new floating homes. To this day, Dyna is the only construction company in Seattle with a dedicated shoreside facility featuring waterfront access to build new concrete floats and facilitate the simultaneous construction of multiple homes.

As someone who picked up the trade by firsthand jobsite experience over many decades, Ren has instilled a sense of humility and approachability into the Dyna culture, that welcomes clients into the build process. From the beginning, honest, clear, and reliable communication has been a touchstone that has allowed Dyna to complete award-winning projects across the Northwest. We can’t wait to welcome you and your project to the Dyna family.
