Addition

Sitting high above Ballard, the homeowners decided to add another story to gain a master suite and maximize their view. As architects themselves, they had specific design details and creative solutions during the construction process resulting in an aesthetically stunning and practical space. In the master bedroom we installed floor to ceiling windows and Fleetwood sliding doors to the deck to capture the sweeping views and create a smooth transition between interior and exterior space. The master bath’s skylight was intentionally placed above the soaking tub and the curb less shower maintains modern simplicity. The hardwoods throughout were finished with Osmo, a natural wax product that is eco-friendly, durable and easy to touch up. An accent wall in the stairway, detailed and fabricated by the homeowner, leads you to the main floor where we opened up the existing galley kitchen to incorporate an open floor plan for the living, dining and kitchen areas. At the exterior of the addition we installed standing seam, metal siding that maintains visual consistency and modernized the feel of the existing painted wood siding, graciously blending the old with the new.
